Skywest Airlines Pilot Interview Profiles

Date Interviewed: June 2011
Summary of Qualifications: ATP Prior 121 & 135 Experience.
Were you offered the job? Yes
Pilot Interview Profile:
1.) Introduction about the company.

2.) Sim is at their discretion. There were people that got the sim frasca 142 that had prior airline experience and current and also there were people that were not current and no airline experience that got the sim also. I would suggest getting some frasca time before going. People say it was hard. -The profile is Takeoff ZeroFlaps Rotate at 90kts, Positive Rate Gear Up, climb at 130kts, cruise 160kts and 30 inches of manifold pressure. Decent 130kts 25 map. Procedure turn Inbound/Base Leg Flaps 60 Degrees. Its about 10degrees per second, Final approach speed 130kts, Gear down at 1 dot below. Don’t get below 120kts. The sim is very pitch sensitive. You will take off out of Burbank runway 8. You will get a clearance to direct to the Vor and hold. He will ask what kind of entry and then give you different holding instruction and ask again what is the new hold entry. You will start the hold and finish. Then he will give you a clearance to fly direct to the VOR and cleared for the ILS 8 Burbank at that point you are to fly the approach and contact tower inbound.

Well dont stay at comfort inn, its a dump. The interview was low key couple of guys talking talking about how great Skywest is and how they are the best airline. Most of the guys at the interview were wearing business casual outfits. Skywest is a laid back company and want ya to be laid back too.Dress business casual. CRM is 3 pilots sit in a room with a crj screen, what would ya do if 2 passengers are fighting in the back while flying and the next airport 10 minutes away with bad weather. What would ya do? Or CRM is on ground delayed a passenger is not feeling good and your next for TO. Do ya want to live in MINN or houston that is where you are going on $19,800 a year, poverty living on food stamps. Come on skywest pay better, how do we live on this. I turned the job down and now I have a better corporate flying job I got from a friend, better pay and lifestyle. No security, airport reserve, commuting, and bad, bad pay to deal with.

There is not much out there about the interview process w/ SkyWest and the info are also kinf of old but....current at the same time...if you know what I mean.
Start from the first post, all the way to the last, look around...
Questions are pretty much all the same...

@ SkyWest they really want to you know the person, although competence, professionalism and knowledge are evaluated as well.

Areas to prep on are the standard ones: Jepps, WX, FAR, brief approaches w/ Jeppesen charts. Enroute charts. Current aircraft's systems.

There is a sim ride in a Frasca 142 and is OPTIONAL, and the interviewers' discretion (guess it depends on experience, currency, etc.). I would recomment to get some time in a sim, unless you are totally confident you'll pass without help. I used "American Aviation, Inc." right in SLC. Their # is 801-537-1537. They use an ATC 810, but it's great to get back in the game and to get the old six packs scan going, especially if you've flown glass for a while. VERY affordable, definitely worth the money.

Good luck, they WANT to hire you!
