Other gouges are spot on.
Start at 0730 with a briefing about the company, their goals, which side they are hiring onto (ERJ vs CRJ), training, and any questions you might have.
After that a cognitive test (can't really study for it, I did find that taking the cap off the stylus and using two hands on the screen helped at times) followed by a personality test followed by a job knowledge test. The knowledge test was pretty tough, make sure you study from the guide they send out. Did a short HR type form on qualities of yourself, how you will fir into XJT, etc and then a paragraph essay on a pretty generic topic. Mine was something along the lines of "What type of professional qualities are expected of a pilot to be well rested and ready to fly?". The topic was poorly worded, but you get the point.
Break for lunch after. Bring cash since they don't take card for the food.
Went back up and did a one on one technical interview with a captain. Very relaxed. I didn't get any questions about my logbook or my flying. Asked standard questions like "how did you get into flying", "tell me about yourself", "What do you like to do outside of work, hobbies, sports, etc". I was asked "when do you need to file an alternate under part 91"(I didn't have any 121/135 experience, so that's all I knew about). Was asked to brief ILS 35R DEN on Jepp charts. No big deal if you're IFR proficient. Asked what I would do if past FAF and lost GS. Capt showed me how they brief it. Asked me when we can descend from DA/MDA. Asked about IFR fuel requirements (part 91). Asked what plane I'm most familiar with right now and to explain a system from it. Elec from C-172. Cake. Asked if I had any questions and done with that part.
Did an HR interview right after, very quick. Why did you get into flying, what is a strength and weakness and how are you working on getting past it, and tell me about a time that you disagreed with a coworker and how did you resolve it.
Went to another building and was told pending background check, drug test, and captains board that they would like to offer a conditional offer of employment (basically, if you pass the interview you get hired...I didn't get that part). Did fingerprints and did a drug test at an off site location. They will give you a voucher for a cab back to the hotel or airport from the drug test place.
All in all it was a great experience. They really wanted to see you succeed and seemed like a great company to work for. We had 7/8 make it though. Make sure your paperwork is in order and be well rested. |
