Summary of Qualifications: NA
Were you offered the job? Don't Know
Pilot Interview Profile:

Apon arrival at GLA in Spencer, you will be asked to complete a written test on basic FAR knowledge. Know Parts 61,91, and the AIM forward and
backwards. Most questions are really straight forward, if you know your stuff
you will do fine. Some questions I can remember are: decoding METARS, when do
you need an alternate, demensions of class B,C,D airspace. What does
D-E-C-I-D-E stand for, about 10 questons on aeronautical decision making (ie.
macho, immpulsitivity, get home itis, etc.), altimeter question involving if
barometric pressure changes from 29.92 to 30.00 what happens to your
altitude? When do you need nav lights, what time can you start your full stop
landings for night currency, What 3 things are needed to continue past the DH
or MDA? All questions are multiple chioce, some have more than one answer
that is correct, some have no correct answers, use you're own best judgment
on that. Alot of questions on Instruments too.
You will also complete a psyc test, sorry can't study for that one.
You should plan to arrive early because there willbe alot of paper work
to complete. Bring all info with you for filling out the application. 10 year
work history, education, etc.
The interview was conducted after the paperwork was finished. Questions
asked in the interview included: What is the financial state of our company?
what did the stock trade at today? Did you research our company? what do you
know about us? Do you know we have a webstite? Why do you want to work for
us? What can you do for GLA? What are you're goals(be specific)? Know your
current airplane and expect a systems question on it. What keeps gear from
coming up squat switch or a/s indicator? How to cross feed, etc. What do you
need to report to ATC when established in a hold? Have you ever violated an
FAR?( becareful here, I don't know anyone who hasn't. Ever forget your
Xponder?Nav lights? get to close to a cloud? Just be honest)Have you ever
buzzed a house? Have you ever rolled an airplane? they will try to get you to
change your answer on one of these, just be honest and stick to your guns. Do
you drink?( it's a yes or no question, don't try to justify it with "well
only one the 3rd monday of every week, I have one beer.") Tell us about your
driving record. Tell us about your FAA record. What is the best thing you
have ever heard about GLA, what is the worst thing? Why did you decide to
come here today? What do you look for in an airline? Desribe your decision
making process. What do you do for fun? Is you current a/c approved for known
icing? Have you ever pushed an a/c to it's structural limits? What are cloud
clearance requirements in class E above 10,000ft? What is the holding speed
for your a/c? How are you going to prepare for gound/flight school here at
GLA. How does aft loading effect Vmc? Thats all I can remember so I hope it
helps you guys. The most important thing with this company is to BE HONEST,
don't try to BS them because they will see right through it.

Pilot Interview Profile:

I'm currently a pilot for Great Lakes, and I work in the training department, so I see a lot of interviews on a day to day basis. We are
currently in a continuous interviewing/hiring mode and plan to continue to
hire approximately 15-20 pilots per month for the forseable future.
When I was interviewed, everything was straight forward and simple. Now,
we hand out a psych. exam to some of our applicants - it's totally random
and we may start giving it to all applicants. To start, everyone will take
a basic instrument exam. If you know the answers to basic instrument
questions, you will do well in that part of the interview. The interview
itself will be with the VP of Flight Ops and the Chief Pilot or maybe the
Director of Training. A big part of the interview is seeing how well you
react to stressful situations, so the will try to tear you down a little
bit. Just stand up for what you believe in and you should do fine. Just
be yourself and make sure you know part 61, 91, and the AIM very well.
Also, be very knowledgeable about the systems/limitations of all
multi-engine aircraft you have flow. A popular question is: If you start
groundschool with us and United calls you to start groundschool with them,
what would you do? The answer is simple: You would go to United
-----Wouldn't you? I know I would. Honesty is the key. Fly safe and good
luck!

Pilot Interview Profile:

I interviewed with Great Lakes on March 5th. Pretty simple. It was with the chief pilot and the VP of Operations Jeff Davis. The Chief Pilot did most of the talking. Asked me to tell him about myself, how I got intersted in flying, if I would change anything as far as my aviation life goes. Then he asked about my Driving Record, looked at my resume and starting picking on me about the times. Said I had too much actual. I have several friends who also interviwed and he did the same thing to them. Its nothing personal just wants to see how you take it. Then he asked me how my record in OK city would look like. If I ever had a accident or such. Then he asked if I ever broke a reg. I said no. So he asked me to look out the window and pick something that was exactly 2000 feet away. Then he said "Have you ever forgot to turn on your transponder?" that is when I said ok.. I have never intentioaly broke a reg. Then they asked about my instructing time. How my pass fail rate was and that was it. All told about 25 min. From what I can tell if you are honest and be confident you will do fine. They don't like people who act like they are real unsure of themselves. Good luck!!

The interview was conducted in a easy way ,with just personal questions and some explanations about the company. It lasted about 20 minutes.
After the interview we were invited to carryout a Simulator check on 777.
We had a briefing concerning the manouvers to be done(Steep turns, stall series,Ils app, missed app at DH,V1 cut and one engine inop ILS)very easy.

We were treated in a very gentle way. They are very nice people.
After succeding in the interview, you are invited to go for a medical exam on the next day(Easy).
that is what i call tell you guys.I hope it can help other candidates.
Sorry about my english.
Good luck for all.
