Interview started at 8:30 am with a 50 question ATP written. No performance or flight plan questions, just basic regs and weather. Know your ATP and 121 stuff. A lot of microburst questions. Those who fail don't go on (80% or better). There where about 15-20 people who all passed. After that you get a basic run through of the company (bases, pay, etc.)
After that you get an interview time where you go one on one with someone either from HR or a pilot. I had a dash 8 capt. He asked the standard how did I start flying, joked around about how being a CFI was a great job. Then he started with the questions.
Asked what planes I flew (I flew many so he asked which I flew the most, and what multi I was most current in). Asked about the engines, electrical systems, landing gear emergencies, turbo chargers. Why in a turbo charged plane I don't get the same thrust in Denver as I do in Phoenix.
Then he pulled out an approach plate for the Flagstaff ILS and asked me every detail about Jepps and the plate.
1. Asked for an approach brief.
2. Wanted to know about MSA,MEA,MAA and what they all gave me in terms of altitude, nav, etc.
3. Asked a lot about MAP, why the Flagstaff DH was 250 not 200.
4. What happens if I have the lighting in sight is it 100 feet lower or 100 feet about the touchdown.
5. Asked about timing the app.
6. When can you start the app 121 regs.
7. Holding, going miss, lost comms.
8. Tell him as much as I can about the airport from the plates.
Then he asked why they should hire me. I didn't get any of those drunk capt or going below MDA questions, I think they know everyone has the same responses. Most where in and out in about 20-30 minutes. If you don't know an answer say you don't know. Be honest, there where a few things where I said I didn't know but I still got the job. 5 weeks later I got the call.
