Pilot Interview Profile:

I recomend doing the sim prep the day before at Pearl Aviation mainly because they do the evaluation for the imterrview. The interview started at 0800 myself and one other were brought into a conference room and briefed on the company history, policy, and benifits. Sarah then took our apps and brought us in one at a time for the actual interview. Basic HR questions like why AWAC, what is one of your strengths, etc.. Then the chief pilot or who ever they have in ATW will ask a few very basic technical questions. I was asked service ceiling, max speed for landing flaps, and what type engines where on the current A/C that I'm flying. Then the scenrio question ie. drunk captain, overwieght A/C, etc. Total interview time probably didn't exceed 15 minutes. The sim is next its a FTD configured as a King Air 200 but with jet like procedures. Rotate and pitch up 15 degrees to a thousand feet then pitch down to two degrees and accelerate until top of the white arch retract flaps and pitch for 10 degrees and climb to four thousand feet. then up to 10,000 feet at a constant A/S climb, steep turn your choice right or left. He freezes the sim and you brief the approach including the missed proc. tell him the correct hold entry and then shoot the approach you will go missed and begin the missed approach segment where you will loose your attitude indicator once you catch it declare an emergency and request a no gyro approach and the sim portion is over. Everything from start to finsish is about four hours. I was called about two days later and offered a class date.

After the Q & A session, it's off to the Sim Eval at Dell's. Contact Dell at www.DestinationFlightSim.com Dell and His wife are very nice, and make you feel at home while you wait for you turn. Eat, Relax, BS, help each other out. Dell is just evaluating your Sim performance, he is not evaluating you as a person, relax. Do the sim prep if you have the opportunity, the sim flys like hell. It is very touchy and unstable, but not impossible to fly. It is set up for Jet speeds and performance. Normal T/O and Climb, Radar vectors, constant A/S climb, Steep turn, Rapid descent, ILS to Missed, NDB tracking to Hold, Fails ADI on the way to the Hold. May never enter hold if you have the A/C under control.

Return to Interview for Two on One. Standard HR questions. Tech questions vary based on who interviews you. If he/she has flown your current aircraft, anything is fair game.

Air Wisconsin is hiring. They would like to hire about 28 a month indefinitely. They have changed their hiring policy. They formerly hired only Part 121 current pilots and a limited few 135 pilots. However, they are now changing that to focus on lower-time pilots, Part 91 and 135, with only a few 121 people in each class.

Pilot Interview Profile:

I interviewed with Air Wisconsin in January in Denver. The interview was as straight forward as one could possibly be. There were two people interviewing me, one HR and one pilot. The questions from both were personality oriented. The technical questions were basic IFR knowledge. The written test was also straight forward, again basic IFR knowledge. The sim eval was done in a Frasca 141. It consisted of a takeoff, climb, steep turns, climbing turns, an ILS and a missed approach. One the missed the evaluator asked what type of hold entry I would use, then the attitude indicator failed. As soon as I told him about the Att. indicator the eval was done. I found the sim prep offered by Aviation Career services to be very helpful. Indoc was straight forward as well as systems. Out of my class of 26, 7 got the BAe 146, 5 got the CRJ and the rest got the Do-328. The people at Air Wisconsin are very nice and the company takes a great deal of pride in its employee relations. They really make you feel like a member of the team from day one.
