Pilot Interview Profile:

I went to the open house in IND. We had Brian (FO for freedom) and Chris (Chief Pilot CLT). Very relaxed. They gave us an overview of the company. History of the company and where they think it is going. How the pay scale works. Upgrade time. All the usual stuff. Then we had a Q&A session. It is a good idea to have some questions ready. Then we did one-on-one questioning and review of resumes. I was told that my stuff looked very good. FILL OUT THE APP ON AIRLINEAPPPS.COM!!! PRINT IT OFF AND BRING IT WITH YOU!!! I got a call later that day from Brian offering me a job.

Date Interviewed: March 2007
Summary of Qualifications: 230 TT, AGI
Were you offered the job? Yes
Pilot Interview Profile:

Interview began at 8:00 with a psyc test and 30 question instrument test. There were no instrument questions with figures. Most of the questions covered FARs, Airspace, Systems, ect. All the questions came from the FAA Instrument question bank. The tests were done around 10:00 and Mesa gave an overview of thier company, the training equipment, and their expectations of PACE students. The personel interview is relaxd an one on one. They are looking for someone with a good work ethic, not someone who is an arrogant naturally skilled pilot. Just demonstrate a good attitude and some humility and you will do fine. After lunch I went to the airport for a tour of Mesa's airplanes and a sim check. They gave me a few minutes to get a feel for the sim (Frasca 242) and then you fly a number of assinged heading for a set period of time. Next you are vectored for the ILS 25 for Farmington. Fly to the DH and you are done. Overall I had a good experiance. My only complaint is they do not give you a feel for how you performed. So do your best and don't worry if you get no feedback.

Date Interviewed: January 2007
Summary of Qualifications: Commercial pilot, ATP Written..2010 hours, part 135.
Were you offered the job? Yes
Pilot Interview Profile:

We all met in Miami during Superbowl week. The interview started much like the preceding ones. 50 question ATP written. If you fail you bail...If you pass you stay on interview. Chris Bender asked some questions regarding HR and situational scenarios. Then John DePhillips conducted the technical portion. Pretty much laid back interview... Just study and you will be fine...Also, look at low altitude IFR charts.

Date Interviewed: September 2006
Summary of Qualifications: cfii, mei 1900, me 700
Were you offered the job? No
Pilot Interview Profile:

Arrived at the hotel 1:00p.m. the day before the interview. Review a couple of items and ATP book. All is fine. The next day arrived at headquaters at 7:30 a.m. try to be as early and eager as possible. Typical interview straight from the previous gouges. 50 ATP questions and a two on one interview. quite a group of guys that they are interviewing. There were alot of guys here with less than 500 hour total time in their whole entire life. If I am a passenger, I would be scared out of my witts to find out the guy up in the cockpit have less than 3,000 hours let alone operating a regional jet on his 21 birthday. Immature and risk taking. I have already interviewed and sucessfully passed with Skywest and don't think I want any part of being with this airline.

Date Interviewed: September 2006
Summary of Qualifications: 253TT, 23ME, Mesa Ailines Pilot Development Graduate

Pilot Interview Profile:
I arrived at 8:05 for the 8:30 interview and was one of the last to show. Most were there 30-60 minutes early. Christine (Chris) was there to welcome you and collect your required documents and fee (cash or money order). She was warm and professional. The Mesa building is kind of tough to find, so I would recommend allowing an extra few minutes. All the males were in suits.

The previous gauges were very accurate on the itinerary of the interview. We got an initial brief, and Christine Bender made it clear that you needed an 80% to pass. She told us that we will probably get the 1900 and ground school is in 5 days. I think one might have failed. Know every question in the ATP written without a chart to be safe, but we did not have a single domestic/supplemental/flag carrier question.

After the test, Chris gave us the Mesa basics (equipment, bases, current upgrade times, company news) then we talked for about 30 minutes with the four pilots (all captains) who would be doing the interviews. It is very relaxed and you are encouraged to ask questions. We then were sent out to wait for our turn to interview. Interviews were done 1-1 with Chris Bender bouncing around and sitting it.

I interviewed with a CRJ Capt. He was friendly, and casual. He told me that they were now standardizing interviews so some people didn't get drilled while others got off easy.
