We interviewed at the Radisson Airport Inn at approximately 0830. We were briefed on who the interviewing staff was and a brief history of the company, i.e.: started flying the BE-1900 then moved to the Dash 8, to the CRJ, etc... After a brief history, we were then told what our pay as first officers was going to be.
Soon after, we were given a test which consisted of 50 questions from the ATP written test. Hint: All questions were derived from the Gleim ATP Written Test Prep book. Read it, know it!! You have to pass with an 80% or better to be interviewed, or else they will tell you that you didn't make the interview and you must return home.
Every person who passed the test and was excepted for an interview was interviewed one at a time and was, from what I saw, based on when their flight left for home. The guys that lived in or around the Phoenix area were interviewed last. Sorry guys!
Once called for the interview, one of either three of four interviewing staff called you upstairs. The interview consisted of reviewing your results on the 50 question test and making sure that what you knew was conmensurate with your experience. After reviewing the test, you were asked a series of HR questions, i.e.: What are your three best character traits?, If a Captain you were flying with suddenly decides to smoke a cigarette in the flight deck, what do you do?, etc...
After the HR questions, you are asked about your knowledge in regards to Jeppesen charts and approach plates and your ability to brief them. In my case, I was the instructor teaching my "student" how to brief the approach and what different symbols meant on the plates and charts.
I kid you not, that was just about it for the day. We were all sent off on our merry ways and off to home.
The day after the interview, most of us were called for the position and to select a class date. Choose wisely!! Don't rush into it!
That's it and GOOD LUCK!!!
