Pilot Interview Profile:
I filled out about half of the online application and logged off with the intention of finishing it later. I received a call a few days later asking if I would be willing to fly to IND for an interview. I agreed. They told me before the interview I had to fill out the rest of the application on line, so I did. A few days later I received an email with all the normal paperwork and PRIA stuff. I flew on a republic E170 out to the interview in IND. I was a little annoyed that they had me fly space available, but I had checked the loads on loadshare the night before and knew there were plenty of open seats. Make sure you read the travel info they give you. I red mine at the last minnet and found out that the hotel they have you stay at (the Embassy $75 a night with company discount) does not have an airport van. Republic has a contract with a limo service (yes an actual Limo) that provides transportation to and from the airport. One guy in my group did not catch this and ended up paying $50 for a cab the the hotel.

The Interview started at 8:30. We took the 8:15 van to the Republic headquarters. When we got there we went to the 3ed floor and checked in with the receptionist. She sent us to the brake room. there was six of us. when the head pilot recruiter came in the room he was very friendly and laid back, however he did make it clear that he was disappointed that they could only get six people to interview that day. He offered us water coffee or tea then usherd us into the conference room for a 30 min presentation on the company. He claimed they are going to need close to 800 new pilots this year, however his logic behind the number did not quite add up. But at any rate it seems like there is going to be some growth in the near future. After the presintaion we did the 20 question ATP style test. They tell you that everyone has a different test but i got the impression after talking to everyone that we all got the same test. Here are come of the questions I can remember:
What is the minimum glycol content of Type 1 deicing/anti-icing fluid?-(80 percent)
When atc instructs you to do something, it means...-Atc instructions
The reserve fuel supply for a domestic air carrier flight is- ( 45 minutes at normal fuel consumption in addition to the fuel required to fly to and land at the most distant alternate airport)
If your told to verify 9000', but are maintaining 8,000 what do you say- Report maintaining 8,000
if you deviate from atc because of a TCAS resolution advisory what do you do- expeditiously return
What is the total effect on total drag of an aircraft if the airspeed decreases in level flight below that speed for maximum L/D?- Drag increases because of increased induced drag
What is the result of a shock-induced separation of airflow occurring symmetrically near the wing root of a sweptwing aircraft?- A severe moment or Mach Tuck
what is the condition that may occur when gusts cause a swept wing type airplane to roll in one direction while yawing in the other?- Dutch roll
Maximum range performance of a turbojet aircraft is obtained by which procedure as aircraft weight reduces? - (increasing altitude or decreasing speed)
As outside air pressure decreases, thrust output will - (decrease due to higher density altitude)
The maximum speed during takeoff that the pilot may abort the takeoff and stop the airplane within the accelerate-stop distance is - (V1)
The maximum indicated airspeed that an aircraft may be flown in class B airspace after departing the primary airport, while at 1,700' and 3.5 NM from the airport is- (250 knots)
If the middle marker for a category 1 ILS approach is inoperative- (the inop middle marker has no effect on straight-in minimums)
Below what altitude, except when in cruise flight, are non-saftely related cockpit activities by flight crewmembers prohibited?- (10,000')
if you lose raim what do you do - (different apch)
After that was the wonderlic. Do not study for or even think about the wonderlic. it is easy and does not matter. the head pilot recruiter himself said that they do not really use it and the only reason they still have it is because the have a contract with wonderlic and once the contract is up the test is gone.

After the testing is done we went back to the brake room for logbook review. An FO skimmed through my log books and looked at my certificates.

After the logbook review I did the sim. It is a CRJ200 FTD that they tell you they got from Commair, but the sim guy told me they got it for free from flight safety. I personally do not care where it came from but it was a topic of discussion amongst the others interviewing. anyway.. DO NOT SWEAT THE SIM. It was a non event. climb to 5000 turn left turn right shoot an ILS you don't have to brief the approach, they don't even give you a plate. Just follow the flight director that is all there is to it.

After the sim was the two on one interview ( in my opinion the hardest part of the day).
HR questions
Why do you want to work here?
TMAAT when you had a difficult student and what you did to overcome that
TMAAT when you had an emergency/difficult situation and how you resolved it
What will be your biggest challenge making the transitions to jets?
What will be your biggest challenge flying for us?
Have you ever failed a checkride? explain why
What do you like and dislike about your current job?
Why would you be a good first officer?
Have you had any accidents/incidents/or any other issues that we should know about?
Have you had any violations? (including traffic violations/speeding tickets)
any criminal history?
Do you mind signing a 2 year contract ($20,000 pro rated for sim training)

Technical questions
What is the difference between light chop and light turbulence?
what does it mean when the runway centerline lights start alternating red/white?
Do you need to report entering a hold in radar environment?
When are you established in a hold?
Read a metar (random for that particular day)
Brief this approach (ILS rwy 22L @ JFK)
the METAR is as follows:
KJFK 101551Z 14009KT 7SM -RA BKN045 OVC100 26/24 A2983
RMK AO2 RAB40 SLP101 VIS LWR SW TCU S-OHD-W P0000 T02610239
extra credit read line two.

Over all very laid back and professional. It was over by about 12:30. They apparently need people so if they interview you they want to hire you its up to you to give them an excuse not to. thats all I have. Good luck
Date Interviewed: January 2013
Summary of Qualifications: CFI/ CFII/ MEI/ 121 Experience / ATP Written 1300 hrs
Were you offered the job? Yes
Pilot Interview Profile:
Previous gouges are very accurate:

830a showtime.

There is a 15-20 minute presentation about the history of the company. At the completion of the presentation you're presented with 20 question test. The test questions are pulled straight from the ATP written test bank.

The wonderlic assessment is what it is. It is illegal for them to base a hiring decision on the wonderlic test. All this test really does is show them you're ability to read dates, small numbers, and identify patterns. There is some basic math questions as well.

Previously if you had 121 experience coming into the interview there was no sim assessment. EVERYONE does the sim now. The sim was straight forward climbing right turn to 5000, intercept a radial, identify what holding entry you'd use, and shoot an ils. The sim is pitchy, but overall better than i thought it would be. It is a CRJ200 FTD they acquired from comair.

Interview portion was laid back. Why do you want to work for RAH, the standard HR questions. Tech was light. Read a METAR, TAF, brief an approach, and that was about it.

I was called back the next day. Looks like they're hiring for every certificate.

Pilot Interview Profile:
Im going to do this as simple as possible. This was my Interview:
1-Company Intro
2- 20 question from ATP
3- Wonderlink
4- Loog book and certificate check
5- PRIA
6- One on two Interview:
My interviewers were an FO and a Senior Recruiter (who i got the feeling was also a line pilot). The interview was very simple, no got you or surprise questions. It was very comfortable. First was the recruiter with "HR" questions and then the FO with "Technical" questions.

Questions that I remember:(not in order)

HR
- Tell me about a time you flew with a difficult pilot?
- Scenario: You are before the FAF and weather is bellow minimums and the Captain wants to continue, what do you do?
- Have you failed any check rides? Tell me about each one
- What will be the most difficult part of flying 121?
- What makes you a good FO for Republic?
- Why Republic?
- Why did you leave your previews employers?
- Do you have any state or federal convictions or anything pending?

Technical
- Scenario You are at 39000ft and need to cross X point at 17000ft, 250kt, at what distance do you start to decend?
- Tell me a time you had to follow an instruction that you did not agree with?
- Have you ever had an emergency, tell me about it?
- What is the most stressful part of flying?
- Do you have any faa pending investigations, any accidents or incidents?

7- They started a Sim veal, its in a CRJ200 FTD (aprox 25min):
I was not responsible for call outs however they expect you to acknowledge the evaluators calls and instructions. I was expected to set thrust, they gave me the cruise power setting (60-65 N1).
-T/O I set Max power and evaluator sets T/O pwr, he called AS alive, and V1-Rotate.
- Climb to 5000ft
- I set cruise pwr and level off. Its hard to maintain altitude so I tried my best to follow the FD (He told me just follow the FD).
- Turns to the left and right.
- Track a VOR to the station. He set the NAV, all I had to do was intercept and follow.
- On the way he pointed at the fix in the screen and traced a hold with his fingers and asked, what entry would you make?( we didn't hold)
- Next he instructed me to slow to 200kt.
- Then descend to 3000 at 200kt
- We did some more turns maintaining 3000ft and 200kt. He got me into a left downwind and vectored me to intercept the ILS (verify your heading with the FD because mine continued on a turn after passing my assigned heading and made me blow throw it).
He set up the ILS AP and we were at a very close to intercept angle.
- Intercepted the ILS LOC, and he instructed to slow to 140kt. He instructed to maintain 3000ft until established, and approach speed 140kt. As we approached FAF(GS intercept) he set flaps, and gear, and called out each one. At GS intercept I followed the needles to 200ft(DA). He called out passing 1000ft and 500ft. At 200ft he said look up and land.

That was it! good luck and hope it helps.
